Shield AI has announced a $2 billion Series G funding round, valuing the company at $12.7 billion, as it expands its artificial intelligence-driven defense software amid rising demand for autonomous systems. The round was led by Advent International and co-led by JPMorganChase’s Strategic Investment Group, with participation from Snowpoint Ventures and Riot Ventures, while Blackstone-managed funds committed up to $750 million in combined financing.
The company’s Hivemind platform enables autonomous operation of drones and aircraft in GPS-denied environments and has been deployed across systems including F-16 fighter jets and the U.S. Air Force’s Collaborative Combat Aircraft program.
Led by CEO Gary Steele, Shield AI plans to use part of the funding to acquire simulation software firm Aechelon Technology, strengthening its capabilities in high-fidelity military training environments.
