London-based Ethos has raised $22.75 million in a Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from General Catalyst, XTX Markets, Evantic Capital, and Common Magic, to build an AI-powered alternative to legacy expert networks such as GLG and LinkedIn.
Founded in 2024 by James Lo, formerly of McKinsey and SoftBank, and Daniel Mankowitz, an ex-DeepMind AI researcher who worked on Gemini and AlphaDev, the company uses voice-based AI onboarding to build richer expert profiles than job titles alone can convey. This enables more precise matching against complex client queries from hedge funds, private equity firms, and leading AI labs.
A16z partner Anish Acharya said voice unlocks a more accurate picture of expertise than written profiles. Roughly 35,000 experts join the platform weekly.
