Do the people who are so against AI… just not know how to use it?

There is so much hate I see online about AI and how it produces slop, doesn't work, makes things up, etc. While I would agree with a lot of these takes a year ago or more... I feel like they haven't really tried it recently.

For example, when I use GPT's 'Heavy' thinking mode and audit the results... I rarely find mistakes/hallucinations anymore. The times I do it is minor and similar to a mistake that a human would make.

Years ago, before AI, I built an informational website/blog. It served as THE resources about the topic. I wrote 500 articles and took me years to build it up. Now that we have this extended thinking mode I thought it would be interesting to build a similar site on a different niche topic.

This is NOT 'ai slop.' I have a full content tree, topic clusters, interlinking, and a very well organized structure to the site. Each article ranges from 1,000-4,000 words, includes a table of contents for easy navigation, and a list of bulleted sources and links at the bottom for readers to check the information.

So far I am at 120 articles. I hope to be at 500 in another year. My site from 2018 took my years to build up. I am thinking I can cut this down by 75% or more by leveraging AI to help write articles. IF this goes well I could be making a secondary income just from the website.

Outside of hobby sites, work wise it has improved my data analysis, formula writing, and has helped me dive deeper into VBA where I was mostly limited to Excel before. I also am quite long winded when writing business plans. I was writing up a plan that was upwards of 30 pages long. I used GPT to create an executive summary for the president of my company. We have reference points within the summary 'See page 22,' etc.

Lastly, as an autistic who has trouble with executive functioning and tackling obscure projects GPT has helped me get something started. I struggle with any kind of project using my hands or coordination. Many times I just don't see how something should be and struggle for hours.

As an example I had an interior door that would not latch. The door would close but if you pressed just a bit against it it would pop open without turning the door knob. I messed with it for months trying to figure it out. (Again, I'm sure a normal person could fix this quickly.) I got the idea of taking a few pictures and asking GPT for help.

It was able to give me 5 possible scenarios. The first 3 didn't work but the 4th... solved it. The door closes now. Now when my daughter has a friend over and they are in her room the dog can't barge in just by pushing the door with his nose.

So many other uses such as helping me plan my summer vacation, cooking, helping my daughter with homework, etc.

I just don't understand all the hate from people on this new technology. I grew up during the dawn of the internet and I happily embraced it... just like I'm doing with AI.

I'll close with saying the tool is only as good as its user.
