AI as an extension of cognition rather than a replacement?

I’ve been thinking about how AI might not actually replace humans, but instead integrate with us over time. Almost like an extension of cognition.

Tools didn’t replace physical work, they amplified it. AI might be doing the same for thinking, like helping with decision-making, creativity, and problem-solving rather than fully replacing them.

Curious how others see this: do you think AI will replace human thinking, or gradually merge with it?

I’ve written down some extended thoughts on this if anyone’s interested.
