DoorDash Deploys AI Tools to Streamline Merchant Onboarding and Boost Food Photography

DoorDash has launched a suite of AI-powered features aimed at reducing friction for restaurant merchants on its platform. Brian Tolkin, the company’s head of merchant product, said the new tools were designed to help merchants succeed from their first day on the platform through every subsequent order.

The centerpiece is an AI onboarding tool that automatically pulls menu items, store hours, and photos directly from a merchant’s existing website to generate a DoorDash listing.

On the visual side, two photo-editing tools — AI Retouch and AI Replate — enhance dish imagery by adjusting lighting, sharpening images, and simulating professional plating. DoorDash also introduced a website builder using existing merchant content, with early tests showing order conversion rates approaching 10%.
